A Stroke of Insight

Imagine experiencing a stroke, and knowing exactly what is happening to you. That's just what happened to brain scientist Jill Bolte Taylor when she suffered a stroke at age 37.
She talks about that experience and what it taught her, as detailed in her book, My Stroke of Insight.
Here is her presentation at TED in 2008.
I didn't read the book, but the presentation is pretty powerful.

Time.

This t-shirt used to say "It's all about me."
It was my favorite t-shirt.
I wonder what would my t-shirt say now.

“I am not quite sure whether I am dreaming or remembering, whether I have lived my life or dreamed it. Just as dreams do, memory makes me profoundly aware of the unreality, the evanescence of the world, a fleeting image in the moving water.” Eugene Ionesco

Rodarte, States of Matter

I went to see this Rodarte exhibition at MOCA.
Pictures were not allowed, but I found this on youtube for you to enjoy.
The clothes looked amazing in real life, The Black Swan costumes were out of this world. The lighting was tricky... the light went on and then went off again and you had to wait for awhile to see the costumes again. They were kind of playing light games with you... or is it just artsy lighting?
Something to do if you have an extra half and hour and live in Los Angeles. It goes on until May.

Forks over Knives

Again something not fashion related.
This is the trailer of a new documentary coming out, that shows the benefits of a vegan diet.
I am not a vegan or vegetarian myself, but yes, I am considering eating more vegetables after seeing this, and thinking twice about ordering that burger. It comes out in May 2011, so this post is more of a reminder to myself to see this movie.

It was inspired by the book The China Study,a book that details the connection between nutrition and heart disease, diabetes and cancer.

Here is the link to the China Study website.
Here is a link to Amazon, if you want to get the book, I ordered it already so I am happy to lend it to my followers. I am not normally into nutrition books, but this one got my interest.
