Tamara de Lempicka

Girl in the Green Dress
Tamara de Lempicka

I was thinking of this because I got a Lolita Lempicka perfume... the name of the fashion brand comes from Nabokov's Lolita and from Tamara de Lempicka' s last name. See, wikipedia takes you a long way,  everything you need to know is one click away. What did people do before the internet? Go to the library?  Try harder? For sure, they are advantages and disadvantages of the internet... We cannot go back to how we used to be. We need to create with it, and not let it create us.

Anti Style

Rene Magritte

This is not a personal style blog, so, even you do find pictures of me here and there ( yes, I overdid myself yesterday), I cannot take pictures of myself every day.
Today I am going to write about Twitter.
Did you ever think "I could have invented Twitter?" Because it is such a basic concept... well, I did and it was funny to see this picture on Tim Ferriss' blog ( no, he is not a fashionista) about the beginning of Twitter.
What I learnt from it. That an idea can take you so far, but you need to have the means, will and determination to translate that idea into the real life. Otherwise, it will only be an idea, together with hundreds of other ideas that never get made.

In rivers, the water that you touch is the last of what has passed and the first of that which comes; so with present time.

I was looking through my old pictures and found this one, signed by Francis Ford Coppola.
It says Multumesc.~Thank you.
It's one of my favorite pictures and I am really happy I found it. It reminds me of a different period in my life... Also, it reminds me how quickly time passes... That's why I posted this title, it's a Leonardo quote... ( Da Vinci, I am not quoting Leonardo Di Caprio on this blog)... Because time is limited, even when we feel we have plenty of it. We don't.
So, why kill something that we are going to run out of someday, something that money cannot buy?
"You cannot kill time without injuring eternity" Henry David Thoreau
It's funny the thoughts a simple picture brings.

Leonardo Da Vinci

Leonardo da Vinci was a man of many talents. Not only was he a painter but he also had impeccable skills as a sculptor, an architect, musician, scientist, mathematician, engineer, inventor, anatomist, geologist, cartographer, botanist and writer. His unquenchable curiosity was equalled only by his powers of invention. He is widely considered to be one of the greatest painters of all time and perhaps the most diversely talented person ever to have lived.Leonardo has often been described as the archetype of the Renaissance Man, a man of "unquenchable curiosity" and "feverishly inventive imagination".

If you need inspiration, it's impossible to not find it in Leonardo. It never fails with me.

Quote of the Day:
"Life is pretty simple: You do some stuff. Most fails. Some works. You do more of what works. If it works big, others quickly copy it. Then you do something else. The trick is the doing something else. "~ Leonardo Da Vinci
